I just lost my Travieso, my 10 month old kitten this morning to FIP, and his brother Gordo 3 months ago. I rescue, foster and I'm a volunteer trapper for my local city's TNR Group. I was never made aware of the possibility of exposing this deadly disease to my own cats until my Gordo passed and I was told he had FIP!!! Now I'm very concerned for my other cats and I really don't know what to do to mitigate this issue I brought home to my fur babies!?!? My Vet informed me that all of my cats have been exposed and that I should keep an eye out for any of the symptoms mentioned in this video. I would greatly appreciate any advice and or suggestions on what to do now that exposure has happened🐾🙏🐾

Aslan is so handsome. In the past, I had a male Maine Coon named Gato, but whenever I looked at his regal face, I always thought of Aslan from The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe book, which I read as a kid. Thank you for sharing this story about Aslan. You posted over a year ago. How has he been more recently? I have a 10 month old cat I just adopted 3 weeks ago, and last week he was diagnosed with wet FIP, so we are just beginning this journey of treatment. There are many amazing people out there to help others get through this FIP journey, which my very kind vets steered me towards. So grateful they did, and even more grateful for this extremely supportive community. Today was day 3 of injections. Not easy, but here we go ….! Really hoping the FDA approves this treatment SOON!!

I am overjoyed that you were able to help Aslan! As the owner of 2 cats myself, it’s truly wonderful that FIP is now becoming a treatable condition. Our furry family members deserve to live as long and as happily as they possibly can, just like us.
Please help, can anyone advise on treatment for FIP (WET) my vet is saying there's no treatment available, but I'm seeing some success stories on here … Our ragdoll is only 8 months old…. Is there something I can ask for?

FIP can now be cured. FELV and FIV not. I wish my beautiful furbaby could have been saved from FELV.
That treatment you gave your cat is Very expensive. I'm glad you could afford it and save your cat. I could not save mine.
Well this video needs to be spread around, and knowledge about this drug GS441, there are videos of people saying goodbye to their kittens like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6jAjxRp064 and if they know there's another option instead of just being told to have them euthanized that would be much better. Granted that video was from 2016 so this drug may not have existed then, but this shouldn't be something almost no one knows about and which only exists on the black market. Who cares about the fda, if it's the only thing that can save them then what's there to lose except the cost of the drug? People with the money should be given that knowledge.
You should have gotten him tested for that as soon as you got him, before you put him together with the other cat. The I in FIP stands for infectious. Animal shelters normally test for these things before they even adopt them out, so you'll see notes on the cats saying things like FIV positive or FIP positive. Hopefully the other cat is not infected now.
