  1. E H says:

My cat was put on the RC S/O because of urinary crystals, neutered male. I started feeding better/organic brands wet food, and limited organic kibble, all grain free. He then gained good weight, had TONS more energy, and his coat is amazing. This fixed the urinary crystals. Saved much $$$, and have a way healthier/happy middle-aged cat. Working towards a homemade diet, and even the commercial organic food is a little less $$$ than the RC.

  2. Kristine Morley says:

Carrageenan is ground up barnacles they put it in cream, & ice cream, claiming it makes cream creamier.Maybe that’s why so many people are struggling with IBS ,ulcerative colitis etc.etc.

  3. Ellie Kim says:

My cats don't seem to care which brand I give them and I usually change it even brand wise and they don't get sick. But I avoid this with all cost. It's not even close to good food for a cat

  4. Moon Chaild says:

The most overrated shit. All your cat need is meat. Buy food with over 80 % meat or make raw diet by your own, the best choice for cat lovers who are not lazy.

  5. Alex C says:

Can someone give me an alternative to Royal Canin Dental (veterinary edition) my vet has jacked up the price multiple times and I’ve had several bags that don’t even reseal. Pleas help me with a cheaper alternative for my senior male cat I care about

  6. Joseph Yu says:

All commercial cat food is the same: convenient, makes the cat addicted to it and keeps it alive without any major drama…

One can make very healthy food for their cat with the trade-offs of being more time consuming and the cat may not like it, especially when it is already addicted to commercial cat food…

Also, there is no way to tell if it contains all the nutrients a cat needs, especially vitamins and minerals.

Taurine is a must in every cat food because cats cannot synthesize this particular amino acid in their body and its deficiency can lead to heart and eye problems…

Honestly, I feed my cat with Royal Canin Sensible as my cat has a slightly weaker digestive system due to FIV. As this video has mentioned, this brand has formulas for cats with different dietary needs. We feed our cat with wet food once in the morning before we go to work, and once when we come back from work, with kibble in between to avoid spoilage, especially during the hot season…

And luckily, my cat drinks a lot of water and urinate quite a lot so at this stage we are quite happy with its condition…

I wish I can find a grain-free alternative for my cat but at this stage, I have not found anything as such while also taking care of my cat’s digestive condition…

  7. Carita Tuominen says:

One thing that affects vets recommending RC and other big name brand is sponsorship. Looking from a vets perspective, you go to vet school with no nutritional experience, the school is sponsored by Royal Canin. All you learn is science supporting their brand and get to know using their brand. You learn about digestive systems but when it comes to feeding they only hear about the great Royal Canin. You may also be sold RC food for cheap or given samples to give your pets. I mean you are a poor student with a lot of loans, of course you take it and your school keeps saying how great it is!
You graduate and go to work at a clinic that’s sponsored by Hill’s. You learn about the great things drom Hill’s Nutrition. You may start your own practice and all the foods you know are Hill’s and RC. So you contact them, get sponsored and start selling them at your clinic while getting equipment and support from the brand.

These brands say how dangerous raw is and especially RC has talked about how their processed wheat is better digested and more nutrisious for cats than meat… so why would a vet then go against everything they’ve ever known.

  8. Pankaj Ochi Ahuja says:

Idk I switched diets and my cats eat till they puke and stuff. Low energy. I used to think Royal canin was evil but they seemed healthier on canin. To be fair we are valuing our casual knowledge over expertise when we look at an ingredient list and go “oh wow wheat, cats are obligate carnivores!” And dismiss 50 years of research or so

  9. June Chamberlin says:

I really appreciate this review. My vet recommended Royal Canin hydrolyzed protein formula for one of my 3 year old cats that has some chronic intestinal issues. We’ve tried many other foods and treatments in the past and this dry food seems to help more than others. I found it to be more affordable in the dry form and I do feed it to all of my cats, in addition to a commercially produced wet food.

I would like to see a review of Blue Wilderness grain free foods. My cats have always done well on them.

  10. Lost Soul S.I.P says:

One of my cats struggles with anemia. When I put her on a diet of Royal Canin and Fancy Feast wet foods she started gaining muscle mass and her skin and coat looks a lot healthier. From my experience, I would give the food a ten out of ten for meeting bodily needs. In regards to price, I would give them a four out of ten. In regards to taste, I have to give it a ten out of ten because my cats wolf this stuff down. Oddly, their favorite food to eat is Friskies chunks in gravy. Royal Canin may want consider improving their gravy formula.

  11. zahn Angela says:

I personally do not like royal canin .but unfortunately my cat doesn't vomit on it .with gastral cat food .I don't like the ingredients in it . Very expensive for cheap crap fillers . gluten
Corn etc.plus all the wet food has carrageenan it which can cause intestine cancer

  12. another miller says:

our bengals loved the bengal versiopn. royal canin decided to pause production of that one. we cant find it and had to try other brands. now, bengal is ill and we have to take her to vet.she isnt eating well throw's up and losing weight.so mad they paused it.

  13. Eric D. says:

We just got some new kitten twin brothers a couple of weeks ago. I went and bought them a whole bunch of food. Their main diet is wet food, supplemented with Tiki Cat dry kitten food. I bought things that I knew were high quality foods, and then I threw some Royal Canine wet food in the mix too. Then I read the ingredient listings on all of the foods. Only the Royal Canine had poor quality ingredients. They have been removed from the rotation. I mean to feed the cats good food, not crap that's simply marketed as good, but in fact isn't.

  14. Sidra Mir says:

so i recently adopted 2 kittens and in their very first week of adoption took them to a vet to make sure their overall health was okay. I told the vet thatI plan to have the kittens on wet food diet and offer kibble only as treats during clicker training. She said once the kittens reach adult cat weights she wants me to think about having kibble as part of their diet so that they get a good volume of food without it being very calorie dense. I told her I was concerned that dry food would mean they'd be susceptible to UTIs. She said thats mostly genetic but for most cats dry food is ok and she even feeds her own cats dry food. Im so confused because all the cat people inlcuding you, jackson galaxy etc all are really cautious about dry food. What do you make of this?

  15. liveyouryoga says:

I wonder about the canned version for urinary tract health. I have bought 3 cans for urinary tract health from a Canadian company called 1st Choice, but this food is not always available in pet food stores, but the RC version is. One pet food store I shop at will not shelve foods with a high recall history. RC used to be on their shelves but they removed it and replaced the products with 1st Choice. Vita is still favouring her FF canned foods especially the medleys but I want to slowly get her to shift to the canned food for urinary tract health. At least with FF, there is no carrageenan. Did you know some human foods contain carrageenan? Those butterball turkey loafs contain carrageenan (in their edible plastic wrap).

  16. Angel Smoke says:

What do you think about the hepatic issues one?they only offer dry.Our vet recommended it or the hill ones ,I'm one who used to hate these carb full brands. But I don't want to be stubborn and hender his health. I'm also giving him hepatiale which is a supplement. . He is 13 years old and fell in love with it ! I used to feed him wet food everyday and he would have a bit of dry for free feeding and he is not overweight. Ever since I got it he doesn't care much about the best wet foods he used to love! I refuse to have him only on dry

  17. RED says:

Not a good choice, no kibble is good for cats or dogs……!
No not good quality at all, especially when you open it and it’s rotten and stinks. Ingredient quality is only 5/10……so not good at all. It’s crap food!

  18. Bluey says:

What is wrong with animal by products? "“Meat by-products is the non-rendered, clean parts, other than meat, derived from slaughtered mammals. It includes, but is not limited to, lungs, spleen, kidneys, brain, livers, blood, bone, partially de-fatted low temperature fatty tissue, and stomachs and intestines freed of their contents. It does not include hair, horns, teeth and hoofs."

If we are talking about a species-appropriate and biologically appropriate diet, lungs, livers, brains are all beneficial. Just because WE don't want to eat these, doesn't mean our cats shouldn't.

  19. senscgal says:

My late cat grew up with Royal Canin kibbles and wet food before she was rehome with us. I managed to change her kibbles over time but with the wet food, she wasn’t keen on any other brands. I have tried many brands and different selections, she ate minimally. Personally, I would not recommend owners whose cats have not tried this brand to introduce this brand. It’s very hard to try other “better” options after.

  20. Caitlin Sampson says:

I bought this brand because my vet said to. As I’m researching more about good cat food and understanding their ingredients. I appreciate your videos.

  21. Tishan Bowen-Gordon says:

In general. Vets are not recommending species appropriate diets. Seems to be more of a business partnership with the food companies that are advertised all over their clinics.
